Abstract

This paper deals with the theory of magnetotelluric effect of a multilayered anisotropic earth. A generalized matrix relation is obtained for finding out the layer constant Ao, Bo; hence the Cagniard impedance. This relation can also be utilized for layered isotropic earth, embedded in inhomogeneous layer, embedded layer having inclined anisotropy and layered earth with each layer possessing different degree of inclined anisotropy.
