Abstract

This method, is applied to mercury-aqueous interfaces by measuring the current transient when a fresh mercury drop is brought sharply into contact with the aqueous solution while a potential is applied to the mercury and the solution. The first part of the transient becomes zero at the electrocapillarv maximum. The later part of the transient, which is irregular, is ascribed to faradaic processes involving impurities.
