Abstract
With a solid foundation provided by the earlier golden age of optics spectroscopy, which established most of the major fundamental concepts in physics, modern optics is giving rise to new technologies at the frontiers of knowledge. Here, a brief overview is presented, which discusses the present and the possible future progress in this field in developing technologies of opto-electronics and photonics.
