Abstract

Induction of suppressor T cells in spleen cell cultures by dengue type 2 virus (DV) has been demonstrated. The suppressor T cells were Thy1.2-, Ly2- and I-Jk-positive and their precursors were cyclophosphamide-resistant. Suppression was mediated through soluble factor(s) secreted in culture fluid and which could also be extracted from the cells. The suppressor factor suppressed DV-specific IgM PFC in spleen cells in vivo and in vitro.
