Abstract

We describe herein a rare idiosyncratic reaction of Sulphasalazine, in a 40 year old female with inflammatory polyarthritis. She developed fever, rash, hepatitis and eosinophila while on SSZ 2 gms/daily for two weeks. All the symptoms abated following withdrawal of the drug. This complication is discussed with special reference to hepatic injury and mechanism of allergic reactions with SSZ. This is a rare but potentially serious complication of the drug.
