Abstract
Electrostatic effects of valence fluctuation of Eu and Yb have been investigated in the two systems, EuCu2Si2 and YbCu2Si2 by studying the quadrupolar interaction of copper as a function of temperature. The average valency of Eu and Yb ions obtained from these measurements agrees closely with that obtained from Mossbauer and susceptibility data.
