Abstract
By means of Bethe's ansatz, several theorems concerning the Heisenberg linear chain are proved. The total translational quantum number K for the state of maximum energy for a given value of the total spin is determined by the number of spin deviations r. When r = 2, it takes on a value of 2p for both the state of maximum and minimum energy of the class of « unbound » states. The interaction parameter Φ vanishes identically for the states with total spin S =N/2 and S =N/2 - 1 for the states with r = 2.
