Abstract
A potentially promising method of controlling eutrophication by means of zirconium oxychloride, a chemical precipitant for phosphate, is described. Zirconium oxychloride precipitates phosphate and limits algal growth at fairly low concentrations (100 ppm) at a pH range of 2-11. At this concentration, ZrOCl2 does not seem to be harmful either to the tested fish or algae.
