Abstract
Recent developments on applications of multiphase reactions and reactor types used in fine chemicals and pharmaceutical processes have been reviewed. Examples of multiphase reactions, their novel features, and a classification from their reaction engineering viewpoint have been discussed. Different types of multiphase reactors, their selection and design aspects have been briefly discussed with a few specific case studies.
