Abstract

The profiles of strong lines of Hβ, Hγ, and λ3933 of Ca II have been studied in three subdwarfs. All the profiles for HD 140283 and HD 19445 could be fitted well with Te = 5800° K and H/M = 100 (H/M)⊙ For HD 219617, all the profiles could be fitted well with Te = 5900° K and H/M = 15 (H/M)⊙ . The importance of convection in the model-atmosphere calculation and resonance damping in the calculation of hydrogen-line profiles are discussed.
