Abstract
A multichannel 21-cm line interferometer is now in regular operation at the Parkes Observatory. We describe the instrument which incorporates certain novel features. Among the more interesting of the early observations made with this instrument are the detection of extragalactic HI absorption in the Large Magellanic Cloud and evidence of structure in the galactic HI concentrations in the direction of Orion A.
