Abstract
We have measured the Compton profiles (CP's) or the isomers: methyl formate and acetic acid using 59.54 keV γ-rays from a241 Am source and a Si(Li) detector. The measured profiles are compared with theoretical calculations based on Epstein's localized molecular orbital (LMO) calculations. The agreement is good but the experimental profile is broader. Heuristic arguments are presented in support of the observed differences in the two measured profiles.
