Abstract
We consider the nonlinear wave propagation in a single-mode dielectric waveguide. Considering the envelope equation by Kodama and Hasegawa, which consists of the higher-order terms in the form of higher-order dispersion and dissipation, we investigate the conditions for which the system admits soliton-type pulse propagation through Painleve analysis. We also present N-soliton solutions.
