Abstract
We propose the possibility of propagation of a soliton-type pulse in an erbium doped nonlinear optical fiber system with inhomogeneous core medium. The Painlevéanalysis of the system equation is explicitly shown. The proposed system allows soliton-type propagation only for a particular case of the physical parameters involved in the system.
