Abstract
The singularity structure aspects of the two component BKP hierarchy are investigated and it is shown that the system possesses the generalized Painlevé property. Further, the associated Backlund transformation is constructed and Hirota's bilinearization is obtained straightforwardly from the Painlevé analysis. Also, the construction of an explicit solution is discussed.
