Abstract
Starting from the 2*2 eigenvalue problem of the discretised Hirota equation, and using the concept of gauge equivalence, the equivalent integrable spin chain is derived. Also the one-soliton solution is obtained through the inverse scattering method. The associated discrete Backlund transformations are further discussed.
