Abstract

An indigenously developed facility for conducting X-ray diffraction experiments on materials under high pressure is described. The sample can be clamped to pressures up to 50 Gpa, and its energy dispersive X-ray diffraction pattern recorded. A ruby fluorescence system has been set up for the calibration of pressure. Some of the recent observations e.g. for Ti and CdHg are reported.
