Abstract
A Monte Carlo-type stochastic algorithm for edge detection is presented. It takes a suitable monotone decreasing function of the norm of a low-pass filtered image as 'cost' and seeks the 'valleys' of the associated land-scape sumulation studies and mathematical analysis are presented.
