Abstract
The kinetics of oxidation of butene to methyl ethyl ketone was studied using a homogeneous PdCl2-CuCl2 catalyst in aqueous medium. The effect of PdCl2 concentration, butene partial pressure and CuCl2 concentration on the rate of reaction was investigated over a temperature range of 308-358 K, and a rate expression has been proposed. The activation energy of the reaction was found to be 3.022 × 104 J mol-1.
