Abstract
Two varieties of ragi grain, one brown and the other white, were compared by Osborne and Mendel's growth method and by Mitchell's N balance method at a 5 and a 7 per cent. protein level with rats. The white grain gave much better growth and its protein had a higher digestibility but a lower biological value than that of the brown. Attention is drawn to the unexpected finding that urinary N excretion was higher on N free diets than on the brown ragi diet. W. Godden.
