Abstract
A discussion of variation in seedling canes, of hybridization technique and species crosses, followed by an account of an intergeneric hybrid with Andropogon Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor]. This hybrid matured in a period as short as five months, at which time its sugar content was almost as high as that of the standard canes. The production of such a cane promised to bring about a great extension of sugar cane cultivation.
