Abstract
Mass transfer coefficients from sparingly soluble cylinders in cross flow configuration have been measured experimentally. The contributions stemming from the different parts of the cylinder namely, front, rear and side regions, have been isolated by appropriately masking the parts of the cylinder. Predictive expressions have been developed for the componentswise as well as total mass transfer coefficient. Also, the present results arc compared with the previous literature data wherever possible. The results reported herein embrace the following ranges of kinematic and physical conditions: 80 ≤, Re ≤ 900; 850 ≤Sc≤ 1520 and 60≤Sh≤520.
