Abstract
The quasi-steady rise of a bubble swarm through a quiescent liquid has been considered. The drag force on a typical bubble in the bubble cluster has been calculated by solving the complete Navier-Stokes equations in the framework of the free surface cell model. A useful correlation has been derived for the variation of drag coefficient with the bubble Reynolds number and the average gas hold up.
