Abstract
The mixed fluro acetato complexes of dioxouranium(VI), vis., K2[UO2F2(CH3COO)2], Cs3[(UO2)2F3(CH3COO)4] and(NH4)3[(UO(2)2F4(CH3COO)3] were prepared by crystallising solutions containing UO2F2 and the alkali actates. Recrystallisation of the potassium and ammonium salts gave M[UO2F(CH3COO)2] (M = K and NH4). A third ammonium salt, viz., NH4[(UO2)2F4(CH3COO)] was obtained by heating 9NH4)3[(UO2)2F4(CH3COO)3] at 150-160 ° C. The conductivity of the dilute solutions of the compounds indicates appreciable dissociation of the complex ions. The i.r. spectra of the complexes suggest that the acetate ion is present as a bidentate or bridging group. The lattice parameters of the ammonium and potassium salts have been determined.
