Abstract

Reaction of [W(VI)OS3]2- with I2, S2O42- peroxide or disulphide leads to the formation of [W2(V)O2(µ-S)2(S2)2]2-which goes back to [W(VI)OS3]2 on treatment with Sx2- via an induced electron transfer process. [W2(V)O2(µ-S)2(S2)2]2- reacts with activated acetylene and KCN to give [W2(V)O2(µ-S)2(S2C2(COPh)2)2]2-, a dithiolene complex and [W2(V)O2(µ-S)2(CN)6]4-, a simple substitution product respectively. The synthesized complexes have been characterized by a variety of spectroscopic techniques. CV and XPS results are also discussed.
