Abstract

[Bu4N]2[MoVIO2(mnt)2] readily reacts with thiophenol leading to its reduction to [Bu4N]2 [MOIVO(mnt)2]. Detailed kinetics of this reaction is presented. The kinetics consists of three consecutive irreversible first order reactions (in the presence of excess of thiophenol) with k1, k2, k3 = 2.82(6) ´ 10-1 s-1, 6.09(5) ´ 10-2 s-1, 1.66(8) ´ 10-3 s-1 and 2.91(4) ´ 10-1 s-1, 6.15(3) ´ 10-2 s-1, 3.41(6) ´ 10-3 s-1 at 298 κ in acetonitrile and aqueous-acetonitrile media respectively.
