Abstract
The effect of blade elements (also often called large eddy breakup devices) with reference to drag reduction in fully developed channel flow has been studied. Pressure distribution and profile measurements carried out with and without four blade configurations, including single and tandem stacks, indicate that there is no net reduction in pressure drop for a given mass flow, even though thre is appreciable reduction in skin friction.
