Abstract

Frequency splittings obtained from GONG and MDI observations over the last 6 years are used to study how the rotation rate in the solar convection zone has evolved with time. The pole rotation rate is found to have had a minimum in 1999, distinctly before the maximum solar activity. The bands of faster and slower than average rotation rate are found to move towards the equator at low latitudes and towards the poles at high latitudes.
