Abstract

Mutations were induced in four hexaploid triticale varieties (Beagle, Coorong, TL 419 and Welsh) by gamma rays (10, 20, and 30 kR) and EMS (0.5%; 8, 12, 16 h). Ten different kinds of monogenic chlorophyll mutants, including two new types- redina and white-virescens- were observed in M2 and M3 generations. Mutation frequency increased with increase in mutagenic dose. The chemical EMS produced high frequency of mutations in comparison to gamma rays.
