Abstract

The absorption spectra of PCl3, PBr3, PCl5, PBr5, POCl3, P2O5, AsCl3, SbCl3, SbOCl, and BiCl3, are investigated. The regions of selective absorption are correlated to certain photodissociation processes. A comparison with the mean bond energies as known from thermochemical measurements, allows certain conclusions to be drawn as to the structure of these molecules.
