Abstract
Present communication deals with the survey of invasive alien species in the Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve. A total of 106 invasive alien species belonging to 77 genera, spread over 36 families were documented. Approximately 51.72% of alien species collected were introduced from Tropical America, followed by 5.30% from Africa. Analysis of data indicates that the family Asteraceae was most predominant (25 species), followed by Caesalpiniaceae (7 species), Amaranthaceae (7 species), Convolvulaceae(6 species), Poaceae (4 species) and Tiliaceae (4 species). Present study provides a base-line data which could be used to monitor and develop strategies for control of alien species.
