Abstract

Semiconducting vanadium-bismuth oxide glasses have been prepared in the composition range 80-95 mol% V2O5. The DC conductivity of the annealed glasses has been measured in the temperature range 80-480 K and compared with those of phosphate and tellurite glasses. The conductivity is sensitive to microstructure. The data have been analysed in the light of models of polaronic hopping conduction. Hopping of the polaron is shown to be adiabatic in nature. Mott's T¼ analysis is made at low temperature.
