Abstract

We use a numerical, transfer-matrix method to calculate thermodynamic functions of a classical one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet with a single-ion anisotropy and a Dzyaloshinski-Moriya antisymmetric exchange term. Zimm, Scott, and Sarhangi have suggested that their susceptibility measurements on the polymer {Co[(C4H9)2PO2]2}x (or CoBP) can be understood on the basis of such a model. Our results are in qualitative agreement with those obtained by Zimm et al. for CoBP.
