Abstract
1:1 complex formation in the ground state and non-emitting encounter complex formation in the excited state between 2-napthol and butylamine are discussed. On increasing the amine concentration, flourescence intensity and the lifetime of the complex decrease with appearance of another red shifted emission band, which is ascribed to a triplex.
