Abstract
The equivalence of the pseudoscalar and pseudovector couplings of pseudoscalar pions to nucleons has been investigated here in a straightforward manner without making any use of a canonical transformation as has been done previously (1). PS-coupling is shown to be equivalent, as far as theS-matrix is concerned, to the usualp-wave ands-wave terms along with some non-local terms whose interpretation is not yet clear.
