Abstract
A critical assessment of the status of Cu hydrometallurgy with special reference to low-grade chalcopyrite resources is given. An attempt is made to portray the unique advantages of hydrometallurgy to treat low-grade Cu ores. The objective of such an approach is to substantiate with proven facts the need for the adaption of such a technology to treat the available low-grade resources of Cu in India.
