Formability of metastable austenitic stainless steel sheets. II. Theoretical

Abstract

In the present study the formability of metastable austenitic stainless steel sheets is predicted using an earlier model. In the case of a 1.2% Ni steel sheet, the model predicts the forming limit diagram very accurately, in fact within the experimental error range. But in the case of a 2.5% Ni steel and an AISI 304 sheet, the model underestimates the forming limit in the deep drawing region. the inaccuracy is traced to a combination of factors, e.g., non-isotrophic hardening, texture and planar anisotrophy.
