Abstract
A 57-layered modification of silicon carbide, having rhombohedral symmetry has been discovered. It is shown to have the structure (33 33 34)3; in Zhdanov's notation. The close agreement of calculated relative intensities of diffracted X-rays with those observed on a Weissenberg photograph establishes the postulated structure. Its growth is discussed.
