Abstract
A direct synthesis of pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines [5 & 6] and [l]benzopyrano[4',3'-e]pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines (7) is described by Friedlander condensation. An alternative and a short route for the preparation of [l]benzopyrano[4',3'-e]pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines (7) is also reported.
