Abstract

The susceptibility behavior of CeSn3 has been shown to be anomalous by Tsuchida and Wallace. There is a broad maximum in susceptibility around 135°K and a steep increase below 30°K, the latter attributed to the onset of ferromagnetism. We have studied 119Sn NMR in CeSn3 up to 1.2°K. The 119Sn Knight shift has been found to be largely temperature independent (+1.13%) between 77 and 1.2°K. The possible existence of localized spin fluctuations in this alloy is suggested.
