Abstract
In connection with the structure determination of mustakone, a sesquiterpene ketone from Cyperus rotundus Linn., it became apparent that the currently accepted structure of copaene, a tricyclic sesquiterpene hydrocarbon, first, isolated in 1914, was untenable. Evidence is now presented which permits the derivation of the absolute stereostructures of copaene and mustakone.
