Abstract
Hg(OTf)2 exhibits remarkable catalytic activity for the hydroxylative cyclization of 1,6-enynes. The present procedure should involve a sequence of mercuration of a terminal alkyne, carbocyclization, hydration, and protodemercuration that regenerates the catalyst.
