Abstract
Olefins react with a reagent system comprising of ceric ammonium nitrate-sodium nitrite and acetonitrile to yield products of nitroacetamidation in fair to good yields. Benzonitrile and acrylonitrile have also been found to react with cyclohexene to yield analogous nitroamides.
