Abstract

Raman scattering results on low-lying external modes in LiKSO4 across the phase transition C66→C3v4 (Tc = 201 K) are presented. Based on these data and the lattice-dynamical calculations of Chaplot, Rao, and Roy it is shown that reorientation of SO42− ions at the phase transition is likely to take place about an axis normal to the c axis.
