Abstract

The expression for the sixth-frequency sum rule of the velocity autocorrelation function for a two-dimensional classical electron fluid interacting via a 1/r potential has been derived. This as well as lower-order sum rules and a secant hyperbolic form of the memory function have been used to calculate the time evolution of the velocity autocorrelation function. Without introducing any adjustable parameter the model gives results that are in good agreement with the molecular-dynamics data.
