Abstract
A new strategy for the construction of spiro[4,5]decanes is described and involves a bridgehead substitution of a methoxyl group in 6 by a methyl group, followed by an oxidative cleavage resulting in a stereogenic spirocentre which culminated in the formal synthesis of acoron.
