Abstract
Design and implementation of a microprocessor based input-output display terminal for the Devanagari script has been presented. A generalized algorithm based on graphical approach has been implemented on a 6800 microprocessor based system. This can run on any machine with graphic facility. The scheme can be easily adapted for other groups of scripts. A standard ASCII keyboard with relabelled key tops has been used. Faster character generation is achieved through optimised code assignments and display algorithm. The usage of existing software like editor, wordprocessor etc. is possible with minor modifications.
