Abstract
Nonlinear stability of superposed fluids is discussed here taking into account the effect of surface adsorption. In the linear stability analysis, the surface adsorption has the effect of increasing the region of stability; the effect is much larger in the Rayleigh-Taylor case compared to that in the Kelvin-Helmholtz case. In the nonlinear stability analysis, we find that the adsorption has the effect of increasing the nonlinear interaction parameter Q thereby increasing the region of stability.
