Abstract
The fine structure of x-ray K-absorption edge of niobium in niobium metal and in four of its compounds has been investigated. An attempt has been made to account for the fine structure of niobium K-absorption edge in niobium metal in the light of Hayasi's theory. The bond lengths in niobium metal and four of its compounds have been computed using Lytle's analysis and are found to be in good agreement with the values reported by the x-ray diffraction data.
