Abstract
In this note, the expected π- and K-meson multiplicities resulting from the annihilation of a nucleon pair at rest have been calculated on the basis of two versions of the statistical theory: the Fermi and the Pomeranchuk-Landau models. The Fermi model yields smaller pion multiplicities and larger probabilities for K-meson pairs than does the Pomeranchuk-Landau model.
